HIT THE ROAD: The First Steps of a Cultural Manager into the World
In cooperation with the Centre for Creativity of the Museum of Architecture and Design and Kinoatelje, Motovila invites you to a public seminar that will take place in the framework of the cross-border film festival Tribute to a Vision. The seminar is intended for students, artists and other professionals in culture that are still at the beginning of their career and all those interested in the work of a cultural manager.
In the first part, the seminar will equip the participants with useful information and practical instructions that one needs when setting out on the path of international cultural liaisoning and cooperation. In the second part, the focus will be on the profile of a cultural manager. We will talk about the profession and profile of a cultural manager with experienced guests. We will be interested in the challenges they face on the path of training and gaining the required knowledge and skills, which values and approaches to posit as the guidelines on one’s career path and how they develop and realise their ideas and visions.

A moderated conversation with an introductory presentation.
Introductory presentation: case study of the European Capital of Culture Rijeka 2020 (Tanja Kalčić)

We will foreground the profile of a cultural manager, how and where to start, where to gain the required skills and knowledge, which values and approaches to posit as the guidelines on one’s career path.
The event is part of the cross-border film festival Tribute to a Vision, which will take place between 18 and 24 October in seven cities – Gorizia, Nova Gorica, Trieste, Izola, Špeter, Udine and Ljubljana. This year’s recipient of the Darko Bratina Award, the cinematographer Peter Zeitlinger, will lead a day-long masterclass on Wednesday, 20 October, at the House of Film in Gorizia.

Hit the Road is part of the professional training series Beyond the Cultural Model, carried out by the Motovila institute as part of the partner network of the Centre for Creativity Platform. The project is co-financed by the EU from the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Slovenia. Part of the trainings is also financed by the Slovenian Ministry of Public Administration.
