A woman born in 1949, the year the GDR was founded, talks about 35 images in her family album that each represent one year. Although the film was officially commissioned to be premiered at the 35th birthday of East Germany, Misselwitz choose to question the make-believe images of happy family life. “We adapt until we’ve almost disappeared“, says her protagonist.
